Estate Planning Strategies

Client Centered

You have worked a lifetime building your business and net worth. A proper estate plan helps protect that hard work. We will assist you in protecting your legacy and maximizing estate planning opportunities. These include identifying estate tax liability and reducing the liability as much as possible today and in the future, protecting assets from your beneficiary’s creditors/spouses, and ensuring assets are transferred to your beneficiaries in the most efficient way possible. Understanding how assets flow to your spouse, and eventually your heirs, is an important way to begin planning. We will then provide a comprehensive plan comparing your current planning to the opportunities we uncover, and the potential tax savings. We will also discuss how assets can be better protected as compared to your current plan. Once you agree with which steps you want to implement, we will work with your advisors to implement the updated planning. We strive to lay a foundation today and build on that foundation in the future with you.

Review Current Estate Planning Documents and identify opportunities to improve
upon that planning by providing a flow chart to see exactly how assets are currently
being distributed, and identify issues such as:

  • Assets potentially being exposed to beneficiaries’ creditors, or, spouses
  • Estate equalization issues if you have children who are part of your business and
    other children who are not
  • Liquid assets vs. Business Assets and how that affects beneficiaries and ongoing
    business viability
  • Probate exposure
  • Identify any potential estate tax liabilities and address them by introducing estate
tax mitigation strategies to reduce estate taxes today and in the future
  • Review Current Buy-Sell Agreements and incorporate how those agreements
    may affect your estate plan
